Welcome
to Wayland Angels
Families, large and small,
face significant challenges when tragedy unexpectedly strikes. The impact
on household routines can make life seem unbearable. Wayland Angels embraces
the community by helping those families in crisis. The volunteer group,
formed by Jean Seiden and Pam Washek, began serving families in February
2003. Jean and Pam wanted to create a network of support for families
in the Wayland, MA community, just as they had received while undergoing
their own cancer treatments.
Services have included:
• delivering meals
• running errands
• driving patients to and from medical appointments
• driving children to scheduled activities
• helping children with their homework
• daily check-in for recipients
Support from the angels provides a positive
impact on the families who are undergoing pain and difficulty. As one
recipient put it, “Words cannot express my gratitude for the outpouring
of food and affection you have shown my family in the last few weeks.
There were days when I could not have put together anything for dinner
and there you were ready to fill the void. Thank you for your delicious
meals. Your generosity is truly appreciated.”
Since its inception, the network has grown
to over 200 angel volunteers serving families throughout the Wayland community
burdened with such issues as a broken back, amputated leg, terminal illness,
dislocated shoulder, various cancers, and short-term disability.
Wayland Angels is spreading a heartwarming
dose of care, bringing to others what they are challenged to do for themselves.
Our goal is to build a strong, caring network throughout the Wayland community,
bringing people together in difficult times. All Wayland, MA residents
are welcome to join this community network of angels. |
